  1. “and then of course the shows that you DO want to see often are benefit shows which cost you $25 – again not bad -but still – it’s nice to walk and take in a free show. I would die if Fleet Foxes came here to play a show or Avetts or Band Of Horses….”

fleet foxes are playing a show in may up in washington heights.

band of horses toured last year. they played the waterfront, but i left when they went on (only went to see grizzly bear open) – and the sound at the waterfront REALLY isn’t good.

not sure about ft greene. would be cool if they had mroe shows there

  2. Interesting article about bronxville in NYtimes about keeping property costs down. 86% of the $43K in property tax those folks pay goes to the school system.

What boggles my mind is that a teacher with 30 years of service will retire with an $80K a year state pension.

My aunt retired in 1998 after 40 years from Franklin lakes school, a very wealthy suburb and is only getting $24K a year.

She’s managing quite well and sends most of her SS back to govt.

  3. Besides, if an industry has effectively moved its production offshore, that means that labor within that industry here in the US is just no longer competitive. In an ideal world, the workers are retrained for other jobs.

    This too is economic reality.
