etson- in the more orthodox denominations, they make a big deal out of it. My feeling is when they stop being hypocrites about how they treat other, less orthodox and non-Jewish groups, I’ll consider their points of view with a less jaundiced eye. I feel that way about most religions. the idea of taking the bible literally is a question each person and/or group answers for itself. For me, there are certain truths in the bible that are ageless and good for all. Others aren’t- the ethics and morals of a 5000 year old society has to have evolved.
Your point about Paul is exactly the point- Jesus didn’t say it,Paul, a follower did. So why is it made such a divisive issue today? That’s the part I don’t get.

My advice: take the job with the most opportunity for money and then cash out in a couple of years and then do what you feel passionate about. Don’t try to combine the two.
