Sheen reminds me of my friend’s husband. He was really funny, but heavy on the controlled substances and Jamesons.
It led to some rather colorful (strange) observations on life.
There probably IS good organic baby food now. I think back then my sister felt good doing that and she probably saved money too. I am sure she used cloth diapers too. THAT was one thing that I remember about my mother’s helper duties growing up. Cloth diapers. Ewww.
“That sounds so nice. I knew I wouldn’t have any of that kind of support. Definitely influenced my decision not to have children.”
Cobble, I hear you. I’m envious of parents who can rely on family for help with the kids. All of my family and Mrs C’s are in Canada. We don’t have one relative in NYC and very few friends we can or would ever ask to help us out. It’s certainly not easy, but it’s doable.
On the other hand, there’s something to be said for having no relatives within easy visiting distance. 🙂
I am sure I am a terrible parent because of it, but we never made baby food in a blender.
At home we would just cook a bit of stuff he could eat and mash it up. I remember sweet potatoes being a favorite, to the point he started to turn slightly orange.
When traveling (or when just lazy), we would buy jars of standard Gerber non-organic, overly-processed, made specially for people who hate their babies food.

Compared to Gerber, they’re not cheap.
so where does one go to get a bunch of old photos – different sized, ages, etc scanned and put on a disc to view on computer or whatever?

Biff, I always marvel at all the help I see some families get from aunties, grams, sisters, etc. It really is a luxury.

“I think I hear Gem’s heading spinning while saying, “WHAT?I have to make the baby food too”?”
