  1. >And how to you purport to define their interests better than they do, that’s my question.

This is the type of question that beggars belief. So *everyone* *always* acts in their best interests? No one is influenced by propaganda, ads, demagogs, TV personalities, preachers, etc etc?

Damn right a certain proportion of the population can be fooled into not knowing what’s good for them. It’s nothing to do with elitism or even education.

  2. “hey, i am against abortions and gays marrying – but i also favor lower taxes for those that will create jobs for mainstreet!”

I guess I would question how any of those things are against their interest.
Talking about lower middle to middle class working people here.

  3. “hey, i am against abortions and gays marrying – but i also favor lower taxes for those that will create jobs for mainstreet!”

then through in a few 9/11 references

    and you’re golden.

The difference is that we can also spell correctly.

  4. DH, those hard hit manufacturing belt is where I find gov focus really misplaced. bailing those folks out to keep them in way under water housing – WTF. give them subsidize housing, job training,…. So many things are better use of the money then keeping folks in those homes. at times like this, ownership is a fucking luxury that gov shouldn’t be subsidizing. consider that when econ is great of budget running huge surplus.

this is not about not helping folks in need. this is about Gov is taxing alot already and answer is not taxing more. answer is hard decision – ie pulling out of wars, cutting defense, extending age on social security,…. if gov is not willing to do the hard decision, can not trust that higher taxes will resolve this. Not asking for tax cuts either. just NO to higher taxes

  5. “I don’t think it will make you feel like you did something wrong, you’re a lesser person or a slimeball. trust me.”

you assume i don’t invest or that i think people who take advantage of these things are slimeballs.

things could be done better – but you first 😉

  6. “I’m making about 1/4 of what my base pay was previously. My peak earnings were in 2007 and I’ve not had a raise since I started working again in 2008.”

Dibs – well than that’s directly YOUR FAULT isn’t it – didn’t you say above to ENY that as long as you make your clients money then you are OK at your job and get paid for the work you do….. Also Dibs I bet your base salary isn’t 60K????????????????
