Thanks, guys. I just bit the bullet and used moneygram. Manipulative people are excellent and saying they need rent the day before it’s due!! The best is he’s kind of angry with me because he asked for thousands more than I just gave him!!

If there were a tax deduction for giving money to family I would unabashedly take it.

I’ve always assumed my kids would get over it pretty quickly if I died, though now they’re old enough that’s probably not true any more. The 1 year old though, he would just be like “huh, that large human with not much hair isn’t around any more.”

Thanks, gem, but I had a great life growing up & didn’t know I was missing anything.

Arkady -am sorry to hear that you lost your father so young. my own father lost his mother when he was 2 – very tough for any child to endure

Denton – People get into teaching for all sorts of reasons – of course there are the losers who go into it thinking it’s a steady paycheck without having to do much, then there are the people who are married to wealthy types who like to teach, but leave at 3pm on the dot and are indeed OFF for the entire summer plus every vacation during the school year, but then there are COUNTLESS of people who do it b/c they want to make a difference and love kids who then have to take on part time work after the 3pm bell rings or during the summer months just so they can supplement their incomes. Those are the people I have only known – I have been lucky to have awesome teachers! my mom was an awesome teacher that kids loved and respected – but she topped out at making $90K in 2002 and she had 2 masters degrees – maybe now people are topping out being paid $110K
