Anyone who worked with corporate during early affirmative action has a bias against women in certain work places. Women were elevated wayyyy beyond their areas of competence & were deluded into thinking they knew what they were doing & got ‘rapture of the heights’ & impressed w/ their unearned power. They were a true p.i.t.a. to work with. It left scars on me, for sure.
There should be a way to accept, acknowledge and even celebrate differences without sterotyping. And to be able to make a genuine comment without it being seen as inappropriate…why is it OK for a man to compliment another man on his tie, for example, but you’re not supposed to say similar to a woman? I watch british TV shows and am constantly amazed at how much more open they are with each other…don’t know if it’s for real, especially since I don’t think Britain is particularly strong on women’s rights and equality.
[raising hand]
“lech – Is that the new term for a bj?”
I think that is a terrific segue into our next conversation topic. Hey, show of hands, who loves bjs?

Two words: Maggie Thacher.
Oh, and all the queens I guess.
I bet you long for the good old days of The Raj, cmu. 🙂
“Are you happy?”
for the most part, as much as any reasonable person.
