QUICK ROB, get over to the cheese shop thread and CALL THOSE MOTHERF#%&ERS OUT for being elitist and causing the price of Kraft Singles, Velveeta and Cheeze-Wiz® to SKYROCKET!!!
lol they probably have, but i dont buy velveeete and kraft. good cheese is one of those things you can’t fake, unless with ice cream and coffee.
dibs- as one Wisconsin Republican senator , who is having qualms about all this said, this wasn’t a campaign issue. The governor wasn’t elected because he swore to bust the unions. Do you really believe it’s only Democrats in the union who are out there protesting? It’s not- nearly every union guy I know votes Republican.
Music is an interesting choice in art because most of the stuff we hear is an interpretation of the orginal.
It’s not like we have an MP3 of Mozart’s Don Giovanni as originally performed.
But it does make my point about it in a different way. We can agree somewhat on a well executed version of the work, so perhaps the well executed copy of the original Mona Lisa wouldn’t diminish the effect on the person observing it, but it would somehow diminish the intent of the work which is to reveal truth after all.
How can one reveal truth with a lie?
Perhaps we should go back to calculating probabilities. :o(
“Because I wouldn’t want people to pity me and treat me differently.”
It’s only embarrassing to you when you see the entire scene from above, knowing the truth, when you picture yourself from above going through life being mocked and pitied and whatnot. It can’t possibly be embarrassing to you as the person who does not know the truth.
“so there’s alot of the stuff we don’t know with 100% certainty”
I would phrase it a little differently. I would say there is almost nothing we do know with 100% certainty. You know, the tired old “I think therefore I am” thing.
“we just play along because it makes us feel nice”
Exactly.
“we are hue-mons”
Speak for yourself. You carbon-based life forms are all the same, LOL.
“It’s embarrassing even if you don’t know about it.
How can that possibly be true? It’s only embarrassing if you know about it. If you die ignorant, what’s the difference to you?â€
Because I wouldn’t want people to pity me and treat me differently. Like I know this dude’s dad isn’t his real dad and I feel terribly knowing it and I treat him differently when I see him because I feel so bad about knowing this truth that is integral to him.
“Not to blame the victims, but it’s pretty darn well known that there are PIRATES off the coast of Somalia. What were they thinking???”
I’m in the office today and a woman said the same thing, followed by ‘THEY SHOULD GET A LIFE’ and I said NO THEY HAVE A LIFE it’s us mofos sitting in the office that don’t have a life.
