So I was with a colleague on the plane leaving Charlotte last night. It was on the tarmac when the pilot announced there was a problem with the steering (hate when that happens). So we all got off and it was bedlam. Finally, they say the flight can go after all and we took off two hours later.
At LGA, a tall blond behind me in the taxi line hears me saying I’m going to Brooklyn Heights and asks if she can share the cab (said she was freezing outside waiting – although I can’t imagine she would have had to wait long for the next cab). I was in such a bad mood from the flight that I was going to say no but I felt bad and said ok. She seemed nice and I felt bad for ignoring her so we begain to talk. Turns out she lives with hubby and young baby at Court and State. I offered to drop her off first and then pay but she tells me she’s also a banker on a business trip and she can drop me first and expense it herself.
Has anyone ever asked a random stranger to share a cab?
It goes both ways w/ judges. A friend of mine had a judge who hated women (though she was one.) Gave joint custody to mom & dad despite dad’s having beat mom & had his 6-yr- old daughter suck his girlfriend’s toes. A few years pass &, sure ’nuff, dad hit kid – knocking her around in a freight elevator.
I had the pleasure of going to tenant landlord court. Not recommended if one can avoid it (I couldn’t). I won though. Also, small claims court…same issue. Again, I won. Not fun at all.
D-Cat, that’s scary. Custody court scares me. My friend has to do everything through the courts re his teenage kids to keep wife from taking them out of the country.
Sure, Biffy. Late at night, few cabs available, cold (or steaming hot) – guy’s getting off same flight so probably “safe”. Why not?
DCB,
You should have asked her to recuse herself.
You weren’t wearing a HE-MAN Woman Hater’s Club
T-shirt were you?
In case Mrs. C asks, that’s biff’s story and he’s sticking to it.

Thanks Dona, Jessi. Too much time has passed and by now it is moot anyway.

That judge seems to be walking a fine line between the bench and her politics.
