  1. “In case Mrs. C asks, that’s biff’s story and he’s sticking to it.”

I told Mrs. C about it. The woman was a dead ringer for one of Mrs. C’s friends. I told that to the woman, who was excited to find out she has a doppleganger running around NYC.

Arkady, I think you asking a man to share is less dangerous. Seems the odds of a crazy person trying to squeeze into your cab is greater than the odds of you happening to ask to share a cab with someone who turns out to be crazy.

  2. Legion, I did not know it at the time.
I was wearing a suit, but was so bankrupted by legal fees, I had to borrow a tie!

That trial took 2 days, and not one substantive issues discussed.

  3. Biff, over Christmas when my boss couldn’t get back into any NY airports, he shared a car from Chicago to NYC with a stranger.

The way taxis work in Seoul late at night is that they can pick up additional people along the way…very bizarre system.

  4. “Has anyone ever asked a random stranger to share a cab? ”

yeah – back when i hung out in the LES frequently but lived in WB, people would frequently congregate on the corner of Delancey and Essex trying to get a cab across the bridge.

during inclement weather i’d try to carpool with strangers (who didn’t seem threatening) – as cabs weren’t plentiful.
