  1. “Colombia has the best pickpockets in the world”

I had not heard that. My pocket has never been picked in Colombia, though I am usually in pretty secure situations. It’s uncommon to have your pocket picked in a boardroom, at least in the literal sense.

  2. denton’s right — the question, when the time comes, is how much do you want to leave these issues and the guidance of your kids in the hands of Glee, hip-hop lyrics, and your kids’ seriously misinformed friends. (Well, maybe rule out Glee if you don’t relent on your TV ban, but they will see it at friends’ houses anyway.) Stick your head in the sand at your peril.

  3. Re Cartegena, Mrs. D in fact does have some relatives there. She reminded me of two things:

-In the summer, it’s hot. Damn hot. Sick hot.

-It’s still Colombia. Last time she went there she was with her father, who considers himself street-savvy but who really isn’t. She caught a guy in a restaurant about to pick his pocket. Remember, Colombia has the best pickpockets in the world.

  4. Is jb around? I want to ask my esteemed partner if she has any expertise to bring to bear regarding the new thread concerning a transaction in Williamsburg in which Malia and Sasha were invoked in a clause addressing the rule against perpetuities.

  5. “Lechacal, your kids are very young. I am sure that as they reach “that age,” you will figure out a way to be there for them, the right way.”

Rule of thumb is that your kids are always more interested, more active, and more ahead of wherever you think they are.
