  2. I think that experience is important when it comes to understanding how the legislative process really works.
    Being beholden to special interests is usually not in the public’s best interest, but having a deep first hand experience with how they work is.

    I’m not saying that Obama is not a good president or that he can’t be a great one. I just think there were better qualified candidates in his party.

    On a side note, George W. Bush did not have a lot of experience either – 6 years of being governor during a time when the most power position in Texas was considered to be the Lt Governor.
    Bush also got a lot of unfair criticism, although not on the scale of Obama.
    Most of my Liberal friends had nothing but utter contempt for him from day 1, even when he was still pretending to be somewhat moderate.
    This was especially evident with No Child Left Behind, which was a bipartisan bill co-authored by Kennedy. As soon as it came out, many liberals blamed Bush for all the faults they saw in it.
