  1. “i am pretty sure this is why 90 percent of the planet hates us.. because are a bunch of busy bodies!! that part of the world is highly primative, it has to be allowed to grow or perish on its own without interference!!!”

rob, pls don’t argue with American Exceptionalism. I agree with the first part or your post, of course.

  2. “are they americans living there or Egyptians?”
My friend (very close) who had the baby is Egyptian AND an American citizen. She wanted to have the baby there and was coming back to NY next month. I emailed her and her husband. Haven’t heard back.
The journalist is Egyptian, she studied and lived here for many years and went back. I facebooked her.

  3. Rf,

I have to thank you belatedly for the excellent link you emailed me about the Fort Greene shootings. My interaction with the Principal there was really reassuring. I was impressed with his moderate approach, his common sense, decency and his concern for his kids and the neighborhood. The article reflects that and a better sense of what actually happened. I am sure that they will figure this out — looks like they may be limiting the attendance at games to the kids attending the school. Until this game, they opened the games to anyone who was interested and they attracted huge, non-school crowds. The shooter (who didn’t attend the game) and the shootees were all not from either of the Catholic schools). I wish this school the best. I have a sense that they will find a workable solution for this problem.

For everybody else, here is the link:
