    Ishtar;

    Slopey alluded to a now-forgotten image of NYC: manufacturing city. Up until the 70’s, the top sector in NYC was manufacturing, and large swaths of the city had a working-class culture. It was simply a different city than the one today.

    This is one of my father’s “topics/laments”. If given the chance, he will lament the loss of our city’s manufacturing, naming local company after company which closed its doors. It is sad to listen to him.

    Speaking of bras, I watched Hitchcock’s Vertigo last night. Wow, boobs were just dealt with differently back then. Both more and less out there at the same time. It was fascinating. And not a bad movie to boot.

    You want to see boobs, turn to the Spanish language channels!!!!

  3. I burn a tiny pile of leaves every autumn – such an evocative aroma that’s almost as good as new-mown grass.

    Dibs- Remember you helped me find a Forstner bit? Now I need another of those Euro-style hinges – know where to get one or two?

  4. “dont know if it’s cause it rains all the freaking time but Portland and Seattle are super clean”

  6. That’s because I think there is a certain element of shaming in Seattle and Portland when it comes to things like putting your gabage in a trash can. I can see those people giving the major stink eye to litter bugs.
