  1. “The people pointing fingers at Palin are no fringe group, but the idea there is no fringe group trying to blame the President for everything from is too funny.”

Anyone who is making political hay out of the “crosshairs” thing on Palin’s website is fringe. Just like birthers. They hate a person and are grasping at tenuous arguments to smear him / her.

I see no difference between the groups.

Again, if you actually want to see a meaningful difference between two people, compare the Obama reaction to the birthers to the Palin reaction to the crosshairs mob.

  2. “A better comparison is how Obama reacts to “birthers” as compared to how Palin reacted to the people who tried to make hay out of the Giffords shooting. Almost exact parallels IMO.”

“Really? i’d love to hear even one example of how Obama responded to birthers with exaggerated victimization or inciteful hyperbole.”

You didn’t get the point of my post at all. Maybe I didn’t make it clearly enough. Anyways my point is that people who are trying to make anti-Palin political hay out of the Arizona shooting are rhetorical equals of birthers, and that if you want to compare Palin to Obama you should compare their reactions to these things. I think the reactions are very telling. I never said what the results of that comparison should be. It’s a good test of both people.

  3. For you financial types out there: The VIX, sometimes know as the “fear index” is trading less than a point above its 52 weak low.
I think caution is warranted here. Personally, I have been raising cash in my account by selling anything that doesn’t respond well on a strong day like yesterday.

  4. I agree Dona. Of course people are capable of making enlightened choices. Usually the (unusual) people who do so are the one’s with the courage to stand up against expediency, or the easy answer, or the social norm.
