re: discussion on US creativity and innovation in music and arts.
answer: American Exceptionalism.
With great individual freedom of expression comes everything from flight to IPODS, Hip Hop to Hula Hoops,
Air Jordans to Ricky Martin.
problem: protecting American intellectual property rights from rampant piracy. Especially when more and more of US exports are the product of creativity in intellectual property like animated films.
On the subject of tofu humpers vs. stepford wives.
You what it is about the tofu humpers? They actually have good intentions, and a lot of them are smart, and they’re willing to actually do something about their ideas, which is nice, but so many of their ideas are hopelessly stupid and just show how utterly disconnected from the real world they are. Ideas like tree planting (I mean really….) or organic maple syrup (yes, organic maple syrup). I almost feel like, as someone who has actually lived out there and done things like farming and logging and the military – the sorts of things that tofu humpers like to express lots of strong but completely idiotic opinions on – it’s my duty to do whatever I can to point out how dumb they are being in the hope that perhaps all of that well meaning tofu humper energy can someday be redirected at something worthwhile for a change.
Stepford wives, on the other hand, are not capable of contributing anything meaningful to the world, and thus must be ignored.
I would be a women’s shoe salesman with a foot fetish.
I had a job in high school as a shoe salesman,
down on Chambers Street in Tribeca.
Back in the early eighties this was still a transitional neighborhood. There were still nautical shops around and the beginnings of an art scene. There was a theatre collective run by Willem Defoe and a burgeoning restaurant scene with Odeon and El Teddy’s (that place had a really cool decor).
There were alot of nice women’s feet to be seen at the store. I think I got paid 3 dollars an hour, but it went a long way in the odd job stores in that area. For $10 dollars I could sport the latest in baggy, disheveled new wave chic, a la New Order and The Smiths.
Arkady, there’s also a big band to the west of Philly. The next band is still down around MD….. BUT LOOK TO THE WEST OF PHILLY ON THE RADAR MAP…heavy snow stretches from Chicago to pittsburgh……the direction that takes will be key to what we get!!!!
Does my typing smell bad? Where did everyone go?

Very fine snow right now in Pittsburgh. Momma Snappy is pleased.
