  1. One of the smartest moves, imho, that the Catholic Church has made in recent years is to advance the age of Confirmation. When I was a kid, one was confirmed at the age of around 11-12. A person is really too young at that age to make any kind of statement about one’s faith. Now they wait until they are about 16 in most dioceses.

  2. quote:
It is at that time that Catholic kids choose their own middle name – my name is Anne.

they get to pick their own name? that’s kinda cool. i would have picked something like Prequeesha or Whatevia.

  3. i totally forget what a confirmation is supposed to symbolize.

when i was studying for confirmation – most people in my class were older folks who wanted to get married in the church.

  4. At confirmation, usually in the 6th grade, one is confirmed in ones faith. Not sure how non-Catholics do this, but Catholic kids are confirmed by a bishop. The bishop gives you a mild “slap”, just a tap really but it is to symbolize the rough time you will have in life maintaining your faith and the ceremony is to confirm you as a growing person in your faith. It is at that time that Catholic kids choose their own middle name – my name is Anne.
