My mother helped me and my sister with our homework. Mostly becuase as a hard of hearing child, I often missed what was being said. I remember years of her going over math with me- I dreaded going home to it. But I needed it. I think it’s important for parents to be involved with their kid’s schoolwork- NOT do it for them, but to be involved. It’s especially important for kids in poor neighborhoods that their parents take an interest in what they are doing in school because it does make for better relations, and is beneficial to the child. It’s different for poor and working poor households than in richer ones.
