benson, your daughter might be your best angle to get wife to agree to move to bay ridge – ie buy a nice detail-rich 2 family house where daughter lives in the other unit (nice detail pad for her and daughter living nearby for wife)
the key to the follow-up without being creepy is a well timed follow-up (ie not too early not too late) and keep it brief and to the point in stating interest.
lechacal…rule number one about eating at Grand Sichuan is that you never limit your opportunities for quick run to the bathroom for the next day and a half, especially if you get the ma po tou fu
ET, that’s a good idea about the Morgan Library. Also, until recently, Museo del Barrio was closed for renovations. It’s an interesting place because it was PUERTO RICAN with capital letters for years (one of the founders was this huge Puerto Rican painter/sculptor) and it was all about celebrating Caribbean culture (but mostly Puerto Rico) and then it started shifting, maybe with immigration but there are Hispanic artists represented from everywhere. I like it.
The third Sat of every month it is free. Same deal as the Brooklyn Museum. Target.
Oh Dona. I never really noticed that about the programs.
Truthfully, I never ever go to museum programs/lectures.
I just go to look at art/artifacts.
so I never noticed the dumbing down of programs and how they’re promoted.
maybe it’s done to have more of a reach to a broader public. I’m sure a lot of people don’t go to museums because they think they won’t understand what’s there. That it’s too far advanced for them. That it’s for the upper crust.
Not sure I’m saying it correctly.

I think that it the idea, ET. That is what they are trying to do. Maybe I am just being a crank.
“for real? benson’s daughter is INTO old architecture stuff?”
Yes, yes, it’s true.
Strike 3. Utter failure.

Dave – take a look at the bodega thread. Snark is brilliant.
“i haven’t had an experience this unpleasant in a long time”
It wasn’t THAT long since the last Brownstoner gathering.
