  1. “Biff, these are girls who have never left the house or even stood in front of a window during the daytime without a full coating of sunscreen.”

Yikes, that demographic is my and DIBS’ worst nightmare.

  2. The Champs were begging to go to FAO Schwarz a few weeks ago. It was right before xmas and the line to get in was around the corner all the way down to Madison and it was freezing in line. I let Champ #1 get, with allowance money, the desired toy. I then later took Champ #1 to Toys R Us to show how the exact same toy there was half the price. I think it was a good lesson learned and I won’t be asked to go to FAO Schwarz again. Having said that, FAO does some unique things that are likely not available elsewhere.

  3. ET, if you ever have a girl, send her to school in Chinatown. Definitely tones down the gimme gimme expensive stuff issue when more than half the kids in class have parents who work in sweatshops or restaurants, off the books. (Probably works for boys too.)

  4. “I thank GOD everyday I have a boy. All I have to buy for him when he’s a Tween are condoms.”

Yeah but according to a certain local blogger your son will be trying to feel you up in no time.

  5. You only need reservations for the tea or the show or whatever other gathering they have come up with. Anyone can walk in off the street to spend their hard-earned money in the store! But, as I said, good books. But you can get the books at Barnes & Noble without spending $45 on a tepee or a bed or other hand-crafted furniture for your special $100 doll, or matching nightgowns or whatever piece of crap.

Oh yes, and the beauty parlor is quite a trip.
