what are they doing that is dumbing it down? didnt the museum of natural history also dumb itself down? they have crotchfruit sleepover nights in that museum now :-/
I’m a big fan of the Brooklyn Museum. I guess I can see what they are doing as “dumbing it down,” but I also see it as trying to attract a wider range of people in Brooklyn.
It’s a tough line, and I certainly would not want to be the person responsible for their strategy.
Doing a lamb(marinate in wine/garlic and roll in herbs for roasting) this year and sides from the canal house recipe book. Old people will be present so will be cutting down on some of the richness of the sides.
What do you all make for Christmas dinner (ET need not answer)?
I’m getting a fresh crown roast of pork, frenched, from Moyer’s in Perkasie, PA. Stracciatella soup, spinach gnochi and cornbread stuffing and Solebury Orchard’s apple sauce served with the pork. Red velvet cheesecake for dessert.
Here’s the spinach gnocchi recipe…I have not made them yet but they are without a doubt the best gnocchi I’ve ever had…..
Rob, we are in New York City, so one of the “consolation prizes” we have even though we want to get out of here, is that we can enjoy all the things in NY. The museums for one. Have you ever been to Brooklyn Museum? It is a really good one (even though the people who run it seem to want to dumb it down). BTW, the “contribution” that they indicate — whatever it is, 10dollars? — is optional. These museums are pay what you want, so don’t let money stop you….
