Dona, I saw the new wing at the N-A earlier this year. Very impressive.
Haven’t been to Gates. If you are in KC you need to pick a team: either you like southern style bbq like gates (more vinegar based), or the sweeter tomato based KC style bbq. Wife is in the non-souther style camp, so we never go to Gates.
“Olivia d’Abo is an actress who played Elizabeth Hitchens aka Nicole Wallace in the Law & Order: Criminal Intent episodes “Anti-Thesis”, “A Person of Interest”, “Great Barrier”, “Grow”, and “Frame”.”
DH, these are the episodes to look out for her, my favorite CI episodes of all. “Frame” was on last nite, which is what prompted me to ask you, but she only makes a brief appearance.
Re: Brooklyn Museum, I think they will always have a hard time bringing in visitors because they have to compete with the big boys in Manhattan.
I don’t think the visitor numbers will ever match up with the quality of the collection.
On the other hand, it is painfully clear that what they are doing now is not working.
Lech, if you haven’t gone to Nelson Atkins for a while, they built a new wing. It is pretty impressive.
Have you ever gone to Gates BBQ? I went with a dainty friend of mine visiting from SF. She is very slim and never eats a lot. She ate two huge plates of the pulled pork! Oh it is so good.
Also, I always wanted to go to the Negro Baseball Museum. The Jazz Museum is in the same building. It’s on Vine.

The Onion just came out with their list of
20 People Who Mattered in 2010
First on the list?
Glen Beck – The Lone Voice of Reason in an Age of Hysteria

I should be counting down the hours until I go on vacation, but the huge pile of work in front of me is pretty scary.
Of course, endless procrastinating is certainly not helping things.

“Fail. Doesn’t the grinch bitch out at the last second and give the presents back to the kids?”
That’s the end of the story. I’m sure that until that point, the Grinch shared your oppositional certitude.
Meanwhile, this is always a treat:
