  1. Cobble,

I know you would love to paint me with a broad brush. Note that there are plenty of Muslim communities in Brooklyn, and that one on Atlantic Ave is far from the largest (both Kensington and Bay Ridge have far larger communities). I have said nothing about them. As far as I know, they are great folks.

I’m talking about the crowd on Atlantic Ave between 3rd and 4th Ave, that, as I said above, even other middle-easterners avoid.

  2. benson, I didn’t like your oblique insinuation that Middle Eastern residents, who in some cases have been here for SEVERAL generations, over here are in any way related to terrorists.

  3. Scott, enjoy the Rockefeller Center Shrub, and have a great trip to New Orleans and a Merry Christmas. Thanks for joining us. (Cobble was remiss in not giving you a welcome package and a tiara.) “Y’all come back now, y’hear!”

  4. benson, I think she was agreeing with you on that one thing and that one point only about the Lebanese and was implying that everything else you say is rubbish

A fact to Cobble is something that fits her weltanschaung.

  5. Some time ago, I worked with a fun, nice American woman and we became friends and palled around with a bunch of coworkers after work. She then fell in love with an Egyptian guy and got married to him. She had two kids and I used to visit them sometimes in NJ. She told me that her husband was investigated as part of the first WTC bombing because of some people in his mosque (from old neighborhood in Brooklyn). He was fine, but she suddenly fell off the map -became incommunicado; I’d call, she would hang up “gotta go, kids waiting for me, etc. etc.” I checked with other friends. Same with them. I figured that she went Muslim, i.e. she was wearing a veil and was a Muslim. A little snooping and I found out that was the case. She felt she had to reject us to keep whatever she had going. I thought that was so sad.
