  1. I hate the term BoCoCa – sounds like a nasty bowl movement.

I am also against DoBr, NoHo, NoMad, CanDo, and any other similar name other than SoHo and Tribeca.

Let’s see… I grew up in Baton Rouge, went to college in Birmingham and worked there for a few years, spent 2 years in Houston, then 7 in LA.
I joke that I keep moving to larger and larger cities, so there is no where else in the US for me to go to.

  3. Dibs — I once had to deal a bit with reapportionment at the state level. I find it fascinating. One thing about population migration from blue northeast to red south and southwest is it does tend to blue up some of those area. Virginia and NC victories for Obama are partially attributable to that. While red states will add congressional districts, some of those districts, if anchored by a small to mid-sized urban (or university-town) core may tip blue if they were on the line before. This stuff is not so simple. The other issue, however, is the electoral college. I read recently that the states that voted for Obama will total 6 fewer electoral votes after reapportionment.

While I expect NYC to lose 2 house seats, those may both turn out to be republican seats, as NYC population has grown while upstate has hollowed out. At the State level, Senate GOP is going to have a hard time with redrawing its marginal seats to retain them.
