  1. ive never had a problem with my monthly mentrocards i get from the transitchek program… just the ones i see to purchase on my own sometimes on my own from the machiens. thank god i have off thursday thru jan 3rd or i would have put like 45 dollars into the machine. i would have gone bananas on the agent if i put in 45 dollars and it didnt give the change back!

  2. donatella, yeah i get my cards thru transitcheck as well so you are paying with pretaxed dollars which is why i dont beat myself up when i get into a pickle and wind up selling one or two of them. i will not be doing that anymore tho. i am never using another one of those machines again

  3. I am getting a transit check credit card — this is pre-tax dollars which get diverted to a special account through my job. I then get a credit card which is refreshed with these pre-tax dollars. It is a NYC program through employers called Transit Check. If you buy an 80 dollar Metrocard, you get 96 dollars worth of rides and it is pre-tax. I should be getting it in the new year.

  4. the thing is that there are so many stations right now that have no agents in them and people are seriously purposefully breaking the machines, especially in very touristy areas. it’s mind boggling to me how there could be no station agent on the 6 train stop in soho :-/ and on one side of the R stop in soho as well. all the machines are broken and malfunctioning around here!!
