Administrative staff/Yankee fanatics at my company.
Me: “Hey what do you think about Cliff Lee”
A: “Fuck him”
B: “He can take his redneck ass to Philly””
A: “His wife didn’t like NY”
Me: “Oh, right, just because some NY fans spit on her”?
C: “Imagine that”
D: “Touchy, thin skinned. Humph, fuck off”
I always worked for very small companies, with less than 20 employees, and as “management” (production manager, as opposed to sample maker/sewer) sometimes I got a bonus from the owner, sometimes not. Ironically, or maybe not, the company owned by the wealthiest people did not give bonuses, the ones owned by people who could least afford it were the most generous.
I can see taking taxes out for a bonus in the thousands of dollars, but it just seems really cheap to take it out of a bonus of one or two hundred dollars. These went to people who were not making a whole lot of money in the first place, and really needed the extra money.
Total shakedown. And now that we’re in the open on the trading floor, it’s not like I can escape to an office and avoid the evil glares if I give them an amount they deem insufficient. I pretty much do everything myself and rarely use my admin. At least she’s the only one here I really like, so I don’t mind giving her a nice amount. She also sits right next to me, so she deserves every cent for what she has to put up with.
And her keeping her piehold shut and not telling everyone that I have Brownstoner open all day in a shrunken window on my screen = priceless.
Rob literally has me laughing at loud today. Some of his posts are outrageously funny.

Rob, are you trying to get MM going like you did in the Aquarium thread?
wait so you think people who make a big bonus should have to pay taxes on it, but not people who make a small one? that seems a tad unfair.
*rob*
Sewer doesn’t sound like a very nice job 😉
