i used to throw all that kinda stuff in a box and then i got sick of the box and threw it out (unshredded. steal my identity bitches, i dare you!!!). you have no idea how psychologically weighty and damaging carrying around all those kinds of documents really is… trust.

snaps — I’d let jackal chime in. I’m less worried about the squirrel thing itself than the follow up about how Mrs. L learned about it. But I’ve gotten this stuff wrong before.
btw, where is our own intredpid Davy Crockett? Busy at work? Totally hung over? Or just not gonna show his face for a while (I sincerely doubt that).

Pete, dave’s 3-year window is right for certain papers, but I believe the safer window is 7 years. I can’t recall where I learned this, but I researched the issue a few years back in the context of saving Estate paperwork, tax returns/receipts, and the like. There are no hard and fast rules for everything (though I think the IRS can go back 3 years), but Google it, and you’ll find articles that will give you guidance on what you should save and for how long.
Aw, c’mon. I thought Mrs. DCB’s ring was very pretty, and glittery! In fact, that is what comfirmed to me that he was DCB. She was a very good sport, putting up with us.
