Folks, can anybody recommend a company to come over (FAST) to fix a balast on a window. One of my parlor floor window balasts is shot and the top window is slipping down — it is open on the top which is NOT a good thing. Air Flow windows said it would cost 140 dollars to come out!! NOT.
Jackal’s right about organic milk. If you only have to pick one or two items to go organic, milk is a good choice. For non orgo milk, you’ve got not only the hormones and antibiotics fed to the cows to keep them on an unnatural diet, but you’ve got the pesticides from the non orgo feed accumulating in the milk as well.
I have to say, though, it was creepy seeing the strawberry pickers in their hazmat suits in Food Inc.
jackal, hasn’t there also been a lot of breeding in an effort to make fruits and vegetables keep longer? The result being, they keep longer but they’re totally tasteless.
benson, heirloom typically refers to seeds and varities that were grown back in the 1700s and 1800s. They typically look more bizarre as in tomatoes, mostly. There’s rarely a taste difference but sometimes there is and also a difference in pulp to seed ratio.
oh, and it is a back window, not fancy or specialty….

Fixing it myself is not an option.
Any ideas??
I make great applesauce from scratch – my mom taught me before she died. It goes great with the potato latkes she taught me to make.
PS, to add insult to injury, I like to buy my organic apples at Whole Foods.

Like most of the people who live in brooklyn heights nowadays.
I used a heirloom to make a nice pomodoro hairpiece for myself.

I only buy apples from Solebury Orchards. Their applesauce is to die for.
