donatella, some big bank yesterday announced hiring a whole bunch of commodity traders after they sold that business off not more than 9-12 months ago!!!!!
“Yes, but even inexpensive boots can be nursed along for a couple winters with resoling. And the resoling would be half the cost of even a pair of inexpensive boots.”
yeah – i don’t disagree with that. i’ve just found that women (young trendy ones at least) buy shoes based on design rather than quality (have a certain outfit in mind to wear them with)
if you’re talking about boots for weather – yeah, get a pair of $70 LL Beans and have those suckers for 50 yrs
I keep getting calls from Head Hunters for these commodity jobs. That must be some kind of massive sell signal, meaning I should consider now opening up a dry cleaners.
These banks do the same thing — you get a big upmove and then a bunch of these people say to themselves. “oh my god, we are MISSING this”. Then they hire a ton of people and dollars for donuts, market changes as IT IS SUPPOSED TO, and the poor suckers are out on the street in 2 years.

slopey- – have to hand it to Woody Allen. I tried something like that in a philosophy class but got nicked by Occam’s Razor.
I just had two burgers from Five Guys; hope I don’t boot.
