  1. Ringo, if you’re not pretty savvy in land devlopment you should get someone who is to walk the property with you. Even something as simple as “can’t build unless you put a road across that wet area, but the state will classify that as a wetland, so this property is effectively unbuildable” can be hugely important information. Also if you’re buying on the basis that the property is buildable, make sure you verify (perk test? Other hurdles? Depends on state and local gov’t rules for building).

Never buy an asset you don’t understand better than most other people if you intend to make money doing so.

  2. Nah, wrong way round.
Christmas is good. More so now than when I was a kid, beyond a certain young age.

New Year sucks. Going out anywhere costs way more $$$ for the same or worse stuff & I don’t like house parties generally.

  3. What do you all think about the WikiLeaks???

I think we should go after them as a terrorist organization. The governbment should be able to have some expectation of privacyin discussing affairs of state.

That said, this is a wake-up call to the government to upgrade their security.

I’m glad the CIA took out those two nuclear scientists in Iran over the weekend!!!!

  4. Lech,

That’s so helpful. I don’t think the timber is valuable, but I should look into it. The value of the land is all about future development. Took me a bit of time to figure out how/if access was available. That will take some work and it’s not a sure thing, that’s why it’s cheap. But I think I have good people for that.

Anyone interested in buying a house from the city? There’s a new auction.

CGar, there’s a co-op on Columbia Heights. Too small for you perhaps.
