  1. Once at Al Deppee’s in Staten Island (Benson, do you know this place – lots of people from South Brooklyn used to go – it was a kind of burger, game arcade, fun for kids).
All of us (6 kids) were there with my parents. Suddenly my father, yells “Get in the car”. We go running into the car, and my father screetches off, peeling rubber, people’s coats sticking out of doors. A man was flirting with my mother and my father decked him, laying him out.

  2. I posted (or tried to) & it just sat there. Then I got a disconnect & couldn’t get back on for hours. I emailed Mr. B & he didn’t believe me – I guess since so many people were able to be on.

  3. “He asked who said that to you? I said this guy in the neighborhood. My father ordered me into the car, then drove around for an hour or so with me in the car, ordering me to look out for the guy who said that.”

Sounds like the kind of stuff my Dad would do. He was in law enforcement, and our next-door-neighbor, his buddy, was a cop. Woe to the guys who tried to steal our bikes and mess with us when they were around. More than once they hopped into a car Batman-style to chase down someone who had done something wrong on our block. Another time two guys tried to rob the cop’s house. He shot one guy dead and the other guy wound up paralyzed. They didn’t mess around.
