I believe I was in 4th grade and we too were sent home early that day. I also remember seeing Jack Ruby shoot Lee Harvey Oswald as we were glued to the TV for so long.
My weekend was fan-dam-tastic. I dragged Arkady to the depths of Brooklyn (Kings Plaza Mall) and shopped for the toy drive. I expect you all have done the same??? Or are planning to do so soon? And don’t forget to hit up the dollar store for the Goofy Gift Grab-bag!
A fine weekend overall. Watched The Queen (A-) and Thank You For Smoking (B+, and very very funny), went back to the Aviation Museum in Long Island (yay airplanes, yay rockets, yay models of jet engines). Went to La Di Da with Friends on Friday (don’t get the bean and calamari app; otherwise excellent as usual). Didn’t do any reading though, which I guess it too bad.
CGar — I was lying in Savasana at the end of a yoga class this weekend, letting everything go and just enjoying the peace of the moment when into my head popped the image of rob being interrogted by the FBI with a peacock. Almost had a terrible giggle fit which would probably have had me banned from yoga for life.
I remember JFK’s assasination like it was yesterday. I was in the first grade at Sts. Simon and Jude, and the announcement came over the PA system. The nuns, most of whom were Irish and had enormous pride that the first Catholic president had been elected, wept. The school was shut down and we were sent home for a few days.
I also vividly remember watching Oswald getting shot by Jack Ruby on live TV a day or two later.

DCB, where in Maine are you? When I was in the Navy I spent a lot of time in Bath / Brunswick.

Good morning all.
