Anyone try the NYT ‘balance the budget’ calculator yet?
Most people (incl me) who have tried seem to find it suprisingly easy.
Hint: it’s extremely difficult if you don’t cut Medicare somehow. Raising eligibility age makes a massive difference.
Right, donatella. Everything you typed is why I really don’t get why seemingly intelligent people work from the assumption that political parties matter.
I see where m4l is coming from, although I think I would likely have a different definition of a ‘fluff’ major.
Know a couple of people in my industry who are still the main source of support for their late 20’s / early 30’s offspring.
(not that relevant to me as I’d likely be pushing 70 at least before I could possibly have any 30 year old offspring).

Bloomberg’s Deputy of Operations is speaking later today to outline the fact that they will fire “thousands of workers” to balance the budget.
This of course would be totally unnecessary if the unions would agree to across-the-board pay cuts but that would be too logical.
