I leave the TV on for CDog during the day, and, though I don’t actually “watch” much television, living alone, I find it comforting to have background noise while I’m working around the house. (I need to get a docking port for my iPod so I can play music instead.)
“I do not have Cable TV either. When I travel, I watch it, to remind myself of what I’m not wasting my money on.”
I like when I can agree with you on something. I got rid of it because it’s a waste. I watch it when I travel and I’m reminded that it’s the biggest racket going these days.
I watch less and less TV, and most of what I do watch is sports / local news / financial stuff. Agree that there is too much attention / dramatization of murders. The real life crime shows are especially bad. I try not to watch political talk shows as I find myself talking to the television (bad family habit). I mostly get national & international news / commentary from the internet now.
Gem, keep at it. Try your best to create targets and identify companies and use the engines http://www.vault.com and http://www.monster.com but don’t apply on line. Network into the companies. And get the 5 o’clock club books and follow their methodology. You will be the one who will stand out.
Keep at it and keep the faith.
Regarding Cable TV, this is something that I have been questioning lately. In fact, gradually I noticed that I had / have been watching a lot of Cable TV and allowing myself to be cyber-amused, the net effect of which has been the shortening of my attention span. I mean it, I think I am developing a full blown case of ADD. So, I am making a concerted effort to read and to read stuff which is a little difficult. What do I watch on TV which is even slightly valuable? Nothing. Really. I watched the Yankees, but I could have bought an entire MLB baseball package within what I pay for Time Warner for one month.
I watch Morning Joe and I really think that is the best out there and that ain’t saying much. I sometimes watch Chris Matthews, but I could watch the Sunday political shows on network TV. And I watch NCIS but I think watching all those murders (Law and Order too) is not good for me.
What’s with that? Watching a couple of murders before you go to bed at night.
