Someone once told me Brooklyn Heights is the West Village of Brooklyn.
It really is a village, that is for sure. I lived not far from the Clark Street train station/St. George. In a 4 block radius, I had the subway, a butcher, 3 drycleaners, a framing shop, several restaurants, a pizza place, Video place, 2 Greek diners, 2 Korean Greengrocers, supermarket, health club, wine store, cobbler, nail place, beauty parlor, Catholic Church, library AND movie theater.
(Why did I move again?)
Now I feel like I am on an outward bound adventure trying to find any services around here.
“How does a joke about whippets even go?????”
I’m guessing the punchline involves Devo.
I think I said it was what teens from my state did to be rebellious.
“Someone once told me Brooklyn Heights is the West Village of Brooklyn.”
Yes, Infinite — in 1947.
“Who are all of these people?”
They’re from FRANCE.

M4l – thanks good to know!
I made a joke about whippets at work the other day, no one knew what I was talking about.
I remember it because at the time it seemed obvious, which it no longer really does to me, now that I actually know a lot of Heightsers.
Although I must say the kind of “secret people” *rob* @2:57 describes are my absolute favorite New Yorker! I’d totally be a snob if I had the option.
