Japanese mixes the three sets of characters together — phonetic Japanese words (hiragana), Kanji (Chinese characters, since Chinese different, these are closer to Hong Kong/trad Chinese, and katagana (makudonarudo hambaga)
phonetic for foreign words. If you can read katagana, you can read most menus.
