no need to speculate on the “reverse” history of colonization.
We know that humans at one time shared the planet with two other species of hominid: Neanderthals and the Dwarf-like homonids recently discovered in Indonesia.
Speculation goes one of two ways:
They were somehow assimilated into modern day
humans
or
They were exterminated by Homo Sapiens.
Given our history, I say it’s the latter.
so it goes back to my previous statement:
Which system of governance will kill LESS
of the innocent?
“Again, all well and good until you feel entitled to pass judgment. As soon as you pass judgment, you should be prepared to examine the alternatives to the action you have chosen to judge.”
In YOUR opinion.
Sometimes people have far more important things to deal with. Applying your way might be good for dealing with something along the lines of evaluating policy, but it silly when dealing with history.
“Oh come now, ishtar, that doesn’t get anyone anywhere.”
Neither does your proposition and all I can gather from what you’ve typed so far is that you don’t want to feel bad about being of European ancestry and would love to be able to logically point the finger some place else and play “you would have too” game.
People are entitled to pass judgment on whatever they want. If someone else gets all up in their feelings over it, that’s their problem.”

The point is that if you want to pass historical judgment in an intellectually honest way I think you have to accept an examination of alternative paths.
What I consider dishonest about the teachers of “alternative viewpoints” is that they just apply norms to history without examining alternative paths.
“Europeans came and did these things, and these things are bad.” That’s so 2 dimensional and doesn’t really teach anyone anything valid about decision making.
Lech, that doesn’t make practical sense. It’s a nice intellectual exercise to keep the cells from dying, but it sounds like the equivalent of running in heavy mud.
If every decision made has infinite alternative possibilities, like branches of a tree, and we’re supposed to consider them all, they are going to find our dessicated bodies three hundred years from now, still slumped over our history books. Yeah, staying on slavery, if the Dutch had freed their all their slaves when they settled in Brooklyn, the history of black people in this city may have been much different. A black middle class would have emerged much earlier, NY may have been a much friendlier place for blacks, and who knows, there may not have been the Draft Riots, or even a black Harlem, as segregation would not have been de rigeur. But then again…..It’s fun to speculate, but what was, was. I would just like all of the facts on the table when the history is being taught.
If Mark Sanchez is at the top of his game, it’s a bad idea.

You can have fun with it, though. 🙂
