  1. “he was able to resurrect alot of statistics for the old Negro Leagues (I’m not sure how he did it).”

That’s very interesting, Benson. The Negro Leagues are a fascinating story in general, and the history is scattered among folks like your wife’s uncle. There are lots of “hidden” collectors with great memorabilia all around the country.

“ENY – Did you travel alot when you were writing for the trade magazines?”

Yes, very often, 2-3 times per month. It became quite grueling, really, and after more than 10 years of it, I went into PR mainly to make more money and get off the road. From hack to flack. I traveled the world to find out I’m a basically simple guy who most enjoys hanging around his house playing with his dog. Go figure.

  2. Wasder, nobody has been more patient with people here than you. In fact, I’ve often thought you’ve given certain posters way too much benefit of the doubt and chances to engage in meaningful discussions. I could tell the other day you were getting irked by BHO and I was hoping you would just let it go and walk away, but your postings today indicated it has gotten to you and I wish it hadn’t. But you’re the bigger man for trying to have a courteous debate. I’m ambivalent about being civil with someone who I feel is not civil to others, but at this point, I’ll do what works for me and hope that I can convince others that it’s the better way and the nastiness ebbs.

Benson, he’s cleaned up his act where I am concerned. DIBS doesn’t seem to mind the heated exchanges with What so I leave that alone. But again, I’ve asked, if nothing else, for the What to at least not attack Montrose, not that she cannot defend herself a hell of a lot more effectively than I can. I’m choosing not to ignore him at the end of the day because I find I am benefitting from reading some of the more informative things he’s saying, whether it’s to do with his take on the economy or Brooklyn “back in the day”, etc. Again, that’s just me. I can appreciate how you might wonder how and why I’m doing this as I have had that reaction with cobblehiller and wasder in the past.

THL, I don’t mind engaging him but don’t love the baiting. However, I’m sure your statement does apply to others. And maybe it is just temporary, but it’s been a nice change.

  3. “East New York I need a PR guy, LMMFAO!”

I would LOVE to be a PR guy for you, What, and I am being completely honest. We PR types thrive on challenges and like unusual clients the best, because they are the easiest to promote. I’d have a ball representing you. However, as I told Iron Balls yesterday, good PR does NOT come cheap (which is why I got into it)!

  4. Yes, THL…but this is the new New York. Disney on 42nd Street instead of crack and prostitutes. It’s fun to think about that kind of new world here on brownstoner raising a pint with the What. Who knows, maybe he’s even a piece of eye candy.

  5. And you did have sex with him on your recent birthday, right?? So his commitment to the new bf is, shall we say…
That said, let him go. But men being men will always want to have sex with their ex!!!!
