“you cant really say anything to these people anyway because they will look at you all moonfaced and confused and one will whip out their phone and take a pic of you while the other whips out their phone and calls the cops.”
Rob – while that’s funny and probably true – you have to stand up for yourself and do not let them take over and be rude! what they did is sooooooooo selfish and clueless – UGh and it’s getting worse in park slope – come on man you gots to stand up!
Delepp – did you see the positively nice house in Montclair featured in the NY Times.com real estate part – in the “On the market in the area” section this past sunday
$499K I think it was 4 BR 3 Bath completely renovated top to bottom and with a finished basement and really nice yard
snappy, the brownstone across the street pays $1.7K a year and he’s got 5 floors. System is fu. It wouldn’t bother me if we were all being soaked but this really burns.
Rob, feel free to barf away at the designated parent thing. What I’m seeing at my kids’ school strikes a good balance. They’re not going into the class and hovering over the kids or anything, it’s more like they’re taking a burden off of the teachers on administrative stuff and reaching out to parents so they know what’s going on and getting them involved in stuff. When kids know their parents are involved with school I think it makes a really big difference.
As I pointed out a few weeks ago, FWIW parental involvement in good schools like this is an example of the futility of egalitarianism.

Condos pay much higher RE taxes in NYC than do brownstones.
According to the three weather widgets on my computer, Friday is rainy, Sat and Sun will be sunny and in the 60s. Get thee to the pumpkin patch!
