Snappy, I’m not sure but I think they both rise the same amount (somewhere between 6% and 8% a year) so therefore, no, something with lower taxes will never catch up.
Mine are about $2,100. i don’t know how that place across from DeLepp has $1,700 taxes….most taxes go up fast the further west you go from bed Stuy. PS taxes are $4-8,000 with Bh higher than that.
Delepp – I didn’t notice the lack of fireplace – that’s not a dealbreaker for me – but now that we dumped our dough into the condo here in south slope – then we are staying for at least 2 years before moving – but we want a house again!
Re: pumpkin patches, that was a big discussion in the jackal houshold in the past couple of weeks. Mrs jackal really wanted to take the kids to a local pumpkin patch, but I said no way, it’s gonna be a bunch of city people at a fake farm taking lots of pictures and thinking they’re in the country when they’re not (you know, I got all judgy and stuff), and my wife was like “OK dude, just relax and have a good time and the kids will love it” (obviously she’s right, she usually is). Instead I insisted on buying pumpkins from my people up in VT where there are real farms and not so many gawky New Yorkers, so we got pumpkins at a farm stand in VT last weekend. Maybe I should be less hatey on New Yorkers.
But NJ is still the state with highest prop tax, right?
I was called to school when my daughter was in 3rd grade and told a fellow student that the boy’s wee wee got hard so grownups could make babies.

VOTE FOR SNAPPY! (and snaps, I am posting that even though the promised truckload of chocolate has not yet arrived. 😉
Was down in Coney Island yesterday- it was gorgeous out!
“how old are the kids, or is it that you like pumpkin picking?
(I am the NewPaltz area expert).”
4 and 10 Pete.
I like New Paltz (after discovering it last year). Plenty of funky stuff. The Lake Minnewaska park is a good find too.
