if built a new house – your taxes would be much higher.
It is the existing houses where law limits tax increase annually so in times of quickly inflating prices – taxes seem very low.
Actually the teacher was pretty cool about it and agreed with me that kids should have an idea about how babies are made by the time they are 9 years old. She was pretty impressed with my daughter’s in-depth knowledge, created when she asked me and I answered many questions after I attempted to tell her the basic facts. Life is interesting when you have a curious child.
We agreed that I should have a talk with my daughter about how parents liked to pass along that information to their children themselves. My daughter agreed to tell her friends to ask their parents if they asked her about sex.
Oh and Lechacal, I am glad to hear about your kids’ school. That is a relief I imagine to know they are getting a good education there and that the teacher/parent connection is good. That is one of the big draws of Park Slope, I imagine.
DCB, I am going to do some covert activity on your behalf re 107 Gates. Will report back on Monday.
Dave re your comments about A/C having the fattest people, I was waiting for the C today and I was amazed that I did not see one fat person on the platform (well maybe a stray one or two). They were all amazingly in shape, athletic, regardless of age, race, sex. This is the C, Clinton/Washinton.
Rob, ignore the parents and talk to the kid directly… Most young kids will listen to strangers over their parents. Say something like “Great bike, can I pass by you, I’m late for work.” Don’t acknowledge the parents at all. Not even eye contact.
By the way if you want to hone your parenting skills, PS 10 is always looking for recess volunteers.

It’s the ones coming in from further east. The socio-economics of poorer people with fewer healthy options.
Watch the crowd that gets on at Broadway/Nassau heading east!!!!!
And Delepp…..you are right. I am happy my brownstone gets low taxes but recognize that the tax assessments are inequitable.
