The thing about americans fighting other people’s fights. It’s the root cause of the Iraq was just as much as it’s the root cause of the bartender getting all whatever with me at the brooklyn inn. Americans do that. They fight other people’s fights all the time. It’s part of our culture. Other people around the world really don’t do that as much as we do. Getting indignant on other people’s behalf is an American specialty. Sometimes we just lecture people, sometimes we bomb them. Same thing really, just different degrees of response.
“The other day my 5 yo daughter was standing at the top of our stoop yelling “start wearing purple wearing purple” to passers by. I was like, “awesome”.”
I would also like to state that the irish from Boston are of a different ilk than the Irish that settled in NYC!
DH – I cannot STAND gogol Bordello – ugh – I know everyone is into them and my label loved them but I was like this is just gypsy noise – i didn’t dig it
i love bands that modernize traditional ethnic music. dropkick murphys are cool, as is flogging molly and gogol bordello.”

Oh..I misread, gem. Tammany was not all Irish, but because of it’s location and strong ties to the Irish immigrant community it was extremely difficult for anyone to get ahead politically without Tammany, which by extension includes Irish immigrants.

Did he think it was insensitive because of the victims of car bombs, or because he thought that it was insensitive to associate the Irish with them?
