“NYU is one thieving institution. I have a bunch of friends who were lured there with generous aid packages that were scaled back every year until they were forced to take out tens of thousand in loans to finish their last two years of school. They’re all extremely bitter and have said they’ll never donate a dime to NYU.”
Interesting, I have a good friend who had a similar experience.
etson, cant blame the degree for not getting into banking but my ignorant immigrant parents who didn’t know banking pays that much more than other fields. not knowing that, one looks for jobs in industries assoc’d with their major – ie engineers go to telecom, industrial, energy,….. banking doesnt pop up on the radar
g10, blame the feds for making student loans available to all without income requirements, just created a another bubble which the trustees used to build grander buildings for their egos. Glad I wasn’t eligible for loans for undergrad.
In general, no undergraduate degree is work six figures. Sometimes a case can be made for spending that type of money on graduate degrees, but rarely does that apply to earning a BA/S.
No comments on the David Arquette/Courteney Cox breakup?
So I followed some PLUSA advices and booked me a trip to Espana, Portugal and Morocco. yay!

NYU is truly truly vile. no wonder so many people jump out their windows and off ledges in the library.
*rob*
No, there were no loans for undergrad years ago. I got 3% and 7% loans for grad school but I think they totalled maybe $8,000.

Nothing to say that people with engineering degrees can’t be in finance, m4l! Know lots of them, although they usually worked in industry first.
