my stance on him is pretty simple. awesome in that it showed we as a nation could come together and elect a black president, but at the same time i still think the man is a moron.
“you can look up youtube videos of people from literally ALL over the WORLD cheering in huge crowds when he got elected.. i think it was actually pretty big for the world”
Not disputing that a lot of people were happy, I am disputing that it is important relative to (say) European / US relations.
I know the UK best, of course, and although most British people would support Obama UK / US relations are if anything cooler now than previously. Not aware of much change in Canada.
Ishtar- cobble is not the only one. Without unemployment I would be toast right now. Even more discouraging? You send out tons of resumes and don’t get even an acknowledgment back.
While I agree Obama getting the peace prize was a little premature, I do think it was in recognition of the fact that he transcended one of the most intractable and ugliest social problems this country has. His speech on racism was a turning point- he was blunt, he was outspoken and he face the issue squarely. In this country, where dialogue is not an art form so much as a weapon, Obama took the issue and pwned it. And I mean that in a good way.
anyone want to talk baseball, football or basketball?
Yes. I have been a little tired lately. I come home, put on TV, fall asleep….. But it has worked out. Started out with the Twins giving the Yankees a hard time both games and woke up for key plays in each game. So far so good.
HI Everyone
back from an interview with the old company I worked with – just with a different label
I hope I get this job so fingers crossed
Cobble – I couldn’t agree more and I have only been unemployed for 4 months and am totally freaked out – I couldn’t imagine being unemployed for a year or more. What’s so scary is like Cobble said – ok I ran through severance, now unemployment is helping us but we are still using the savings we have to pay bills then what – ok I cash my 401K – ok then what??????????????? – that’s the scary thing about it and employers aren’t paying what they used to and are FREAKED out to learn you were making “X” and always announce “Well, it’s a different time nowawdays so we can’t pay you “X” – you would think I was making hundreds of thousands of dollars with some of their reactions.
“You have said many times that Bush deregulated the financial services industry.
How?”
And we’re still waiting…..
Perhaps you are all just repeating things you have read in liberal publications and accepted as truth?
Is it even true?
I know the answer.
“bxgrl, I don’t think etson said anything offensive in his discussion of the merits of Obama getting the NPP.”
I consider it offensive anytime someone disagrees with me.
CGar, I’ve seen an episode or two of Mad Men. Missed the one to which you referred.
Ringo, the Glidden paint at HD is very good, and cheaply priced. I would never use Behr again in my life.

“i hope you paid taxes on that!”
EF you, Rob. I’ve probably already paid more in taxes than you ever will.
