Greenland and Iceland became our “protectorates” for the same reasons in WWII, as long as we’re on the topic. US bases good; German U-Boat bases bad.
What you all just said about US citizens and the US Virgin Islands. Good friend of mine from High School is from the USVI — now lives in Brooklyn Heights tho.
yep so I did a little google search and my limit would be $400K and I noticed I wasn’t quite getting a wonderful cottage on the sea with that amount
GEESH! the RICH JUST HAVE ALL THE FUN -don’t they?
I worked as a bartender at The Limelight – not the one you’re thinking of, this was a folk singer hangout at 91 7th Av. South in the 1960s.

ARKADY ! [shouts]
You could be famous or write a book! Is this The Limelight that Helen Gee ran? If yes, did you know her? Arkady this is impressive, historical and everything. The most famous artists and the intelligentsia of the day or anywhere were there. And THE most famous photographers of all time, such as, Atget, Stieglitz, Weston . . . many, many more, as you would know. You could have met anyone. I wonder if you would care to elaborate.
We had a place a couple of blocks south of there, off Bleeker. It was, however, after the heyday of The Limelight.
USVI: St. Croix, St Thomas and St Johns. I’ve been to St Thomas and St Croix.
St Croix is one of the most beautiful and most screwed up places on earth. It is totally a welfare state. The hotels have to import workers from the BVI and other islands because the locals do not work!
As a US territory they have the same legal system as us. There is a whole legal industry there where a local sues an American corporation, gets a jury trial and automatically wins.
St Thomas is more reasonable. And the British Virgin Islands are really wonderful. Friendly, industrious people, and also very beautiful.

I’m doing well,

ongoing OT feuds.
