  1. Sorry to interrupt this broadcast with real estate talk, but I’m non-PBR-curious to know what y’all think of the following apartment that I saw yesterday:

    http://www.corcoran.com/property/listing.aspx?Region=NYC&ListingID=2068653

At 1,000 square feet, it’s a bit smaller than I’d like and than what I’ve been looking for, and the 1st floor off the lobby didn’t thrill me, but it turns out it’s all the way in the back, off a hallway off the lobby and a few steps up, and, while hard to explain, the apartment itself is actually on the second floor, not on street level, so the first floor entrance is not an issue for me as it turns out.

Great layout; lots of pre-war details; large, light MBR overlooking Grace Court Alley; balcony off living room overlooking Brownstone gardens; large, separate formal dining room; good size kitchen; second bedroom is small (only downside) but has an en suite 1/2 bath; good closets; move-in condition; and low maintenance.

But, I get there and it turns out “No Dogs Allowed” in the building, which is not in Corcoran’s listing. That said, there’s big coop meeting this week about changing a lot of the building’s rules, so we’ll see if that rule changes.

  3. Early Sunday morning about 3 a.m. I woke up hearing a crowd outside my window. It was a group of about 75 young people–maybe 17-20 years old. They were talking loudly and some of them were sitting on the roof of a car in front of my house. They didn’t look drunk, but a fistfight broke out. I called 911 but someone else must have beat me to it–the police arrived–2 cars and a van–the moment the operator picked up. A cop said over the loudspeaker, “Just go home, or we have plenty of room for you in the 79th Precinct!” They dispersed (or maybe went someplace else?) pretty quickly after that, although groups of 3 or 4 kids came back for another hour or so.

Very strange–in the morning it looked like it didn’t happen. No bottles, no vomit puddles, no damage to the car they were sitting on or to anything else on the block.

  4. “My sister passed by a bad accident yesterday on Washington and Atlantic. A Pedestrian was hit and she said he looked really bad. She was pretty shaken by the sight. Did anyone hear about this, do you know if the guy made it? ”

Oof no – hopefully the guy is alright though.

  5. CGar to Lech: I wouldn’t call you a progressive — I don’t think you’re on the lunatic fringe of the left — but I do believe you’re a rabble-rousing bleeding heart liberal.

    No question.
