  1. ABOUT THE STABBING ON VANDERBILT, PROSPECT HEIGHTS:

    This stabbing is an unfortunate classic example of a neighborhood in fast transition like PH. The remnants of the “old guard” clashing with the new. I think that the hipster types take for granted that the neighborhood is more gentrified than it actually is. I mean with all the great restaurants and new things popping-up, it is easy to forget basic “street smarts”. What is interesting in PH as compared to other quickly evolving hoods like Williamsburg is that the original residents are not exactly shy-ing away from hanging out at the new places which in turn creates an interesting social experiment–which in this incident, was fatal.

    so my building’s management company gave us all this 3 page document enacting a ‘bed bug action plan’ to prevent anyone from getting an infestation and probably having it spread to the other 300 or so apts in the building.

    EASY…don’t rent to hipsters.

  3. “But seriously, Snappy – have you ever had a nice cup of black tea with milk prepared properly?”

    Yes, like Jack Nicholson in “Five Easy Pieces”…..hold the milk, hold the sugar, hold the honey, honey.

  4. Agree with jessi’s teamaking method (only British people don’t say ‘steep’).

    Also, scrubbers treat SO2 emissions (acid rain etc). They don’t do anything about C02. It is possible to capture CO2 and reinject it into the ground but that is extremely rare so far. In the US, Appalachian coal needs to be scrubbed and Western coal does not because of the different sulfur content, but utilities still use a lot of Eastern coal because it has a higher btu content (energy value).

  5. LOL! From Craigslist:

    “HELP!!!

    I need a really good co-op Lawyer to help me fight my building’s plan to put a roof deck on top of my apartment (shareholder) starting this coming week.

    Ideally, I’d like to get a restraining order to delay their plan to get it done before the end of the year, and then we can go from there.

    * Compensation: Be reasonable. “

  7. “Jessi, I’m deporting you 🙂 Are you gonna choose Paris like everyone else did?”

    Nah. I love it there but I don’t speak French. Maybe Spain. I’ll get back to you. But seriously, Snappy – have you ever had a nice cup of black tea with milk prepared properly? It might change your mind!
