she probably means book books, not textbooks (tho maybe she didnt read those either, who knows). it’s very easy to get thru high school and graduate without ever having read a book book, i know tons of people who never read any of those books, myself included and i graduated high school with honors. sorry but every assigned book that we had to read in any english class was boring as hell and i couldnt be asked to waste time reading them, i had too much more important homework to do than be reading some stupid novel written in the 18th century.

lol,
for some reason, I liked reading things like
The Guiness Book of World Records
and
The Book of Lists
as a kid. Problem is, that alot of those useless
facts are still rattling around in my head.
Did you know for instance that there was once a
dude who had a child fall on top of him
after falling out of a window
TWICE!
And on the same day of the year, if I remember
correctly. WTF?
…now I’ll add the history of Mayonaise to
my files.

I took some down because they were done flowering and I needed room for some new perennials. Wind took a few more down. [Yes, I have plenty of seeds for arkady! Interesting how much variety not only in the way the stalks grow and the flowers bloom, but in the shape and color of the seeds from one plant to the next, considering this is third generation descended from a single bag of store-bought seeds. Genetics is a wondrous thing.]
Some still left, but it is not a big forest like before. But check out the new plantings.
re Beefheart — he was pretty po’d when Tom Waits took the craziness in his music up a few notches with Swordfishtrombones. He thought Waits ripped him off. I love Waits, old school and new, but the Captain had a point. Loved Waits and Lily Tomlin with maracas in in Altman’s film of the Raymond Carver stories, speaking of 70s american auteurs. But I digress.
I dunno – I haven’t read that many books. I have a short attention span for the written word and learn much better through lectures accompanied by note taking.
Dammit man!!! Tell me! I demand to know! I’m gonna hold the cadbury chocolate factory hostage and force you to eat American chocolate until I get answers!

HA! Lech, that was funny. But I have to admit, I was like ‘hey, I love Murder She Wrote!’
