I saw that coming, *rob*. But in this case you’re right. A lot of froo-froo stuff that I’ve never liked, but it was important to my mom, so I have it for safekeeping until my nieces are old enough to take what they want.
There are a couple of museum pieces that I’d like to donate to the Met for their period rooms. Anyone know how to go about making that kind of donation, or of another museum that might be interested (since I’m guessing the Met has warehouses of similar stuff they don’t display)?
Lechacal, I predict that you will have much less influence on the romantic attractions of your children long before they are ready to get married! I say that as the mom of a 14-yr-old. Not that I hate any of the boys she likes (and it’s very early in the game), just not what I would have predicted or listed as what I want for her.
Benson, that’s interesting about your sister. I guess she has to be pretty patient and have a sense of humor to do that work. And have artistic talent.
I watched Masterpiece Mystery last night — Inspector Lewis. I watched 90 minutes of this show and barely understood the plot..sort of got it at the end…I couldn’t understand their ENGLISH. I lost half of the dialogue. I loved Inspector Lynley and Morse. No problem, but these guys mumble and have a different accent.
Segway Company Owner Dies After Driving Two-Wheeler Off a Cliff
Sept. 27 (Bloomberg) — James Heselden, the millionaire owner of Segway Inc., died in an accident when he drove one of the company’s two-wheeled vehicles off a cliff and into a river, West Yorkshire police said today.
Heselden, 62, crashed into the River Wharfe, West Yorkshire, while riding around his estate yesterday, Neil Wardley, a police spokesman said in a telephone interview. He was pronounced dead at the scene and a Segway vehicle was recovered from the water, said Wardley.
Heselden, who founded Leeds-based Hesco Bastion Ltd., bought the Segway operation this year.

I used to love when my sister would bring the hot young actresses to family gatherings. Such eye candy!

denton – With all the property he owns upstate, I’d be afraid Paladino will raise out real estate taxes to be more in line w/ what they pay up there.”
Arkady;
NYC property taxes are under ther control of the NYC Council and the Mayor, not the state government.
