I hated the long bus ride to school when I was growing up. I had to commute from middle school on. It wasn’t a lot fun and most days I really wanted to be able to walk to school. Unfortunately the school nearest me was a complete cesspool AND I wasn’t even zoned for it. I’m guessing the well to do folks on my side of the tracks had the zoning changed because all the kids near me had to take the bus to school, while the kids a few blocks over walked to the holding cell in the neighborhood.
i think i mentioned it yesterday? but someone this week wrote about their apartment being broken into AND their bike being stolen from the courtyard in the building and posted a flyer about it in the lobby. yesterday someone wrote they also had TWO bikes stolen from the courtyard, and then someone wrote “ME TOO” on it. wtf? bring your crap in your damn apartments! seriously. the courtyard (there are two) one is for garbage and laundry the other is a nice courtyard but it looks like a fucking trailer park ghetto with like 40000 bikes chained up EVERYWHERE.
you cant even enjoy the courtyard.
i mean what idiot chains something expensive outside? bring it in your apartment!
rf, do you have a leftover application for your daughter’s school in Chinatown? I’m suddenly considering going back to school myself. Do they have a G&T (Goofy & Trivial)program there for me?
Aww, c’mon rob. Seriously? You’re ripping on little kids now? They take up about an 8th of the space of one of those jerk-ass men with their legs spread open, evidently because their *ahem* package is so big they just can’t sit like a civilized person…
It is almost impossible to get a Brooklyn kid into a school in Chinatown unless you can produce a utility bill stating that you live there, which many Chinese Americans do via family members/grandma/grandpa who live there. It was possible in 2001 when my daughter started school.
Midtown is still in lockdown, looks even more serious today. The flaky drivers who didn’t get the memo at the beginning of the week are home. 42nd Street is effectively closed east of 3rd.
Rob, my daughter had her own metrocard starting in Kindergarten.

Cotton prices are at 15 year highs. This won’t have an effect on many PLUSAs given the amount of polyester I’ve seen at gatherings.
