  1. Agreed MM. I now sit back, relax and take potshots without getting my blood-pressure up.

Hi dona- yes, the social aspect of school is quite underplayed. Like sports…my son never did any team sports, and I think I was wrong in not pressuring him to, at least for a while; having to interact with, lose, fight with teammates is a good thing overall

  2. Pete – I would get at the line for the Statue earlier than 8am for an 8:30 boat
also I think after statue – take them all for brunch at Norma’s at the Parker Meridien – it’s a bit expensive, but food well worth it and then walk over to american girl and then do ESB
what time is the bubble show?

  3. “I also have a sneaky suspicion that Lechecal doesn’t believe a word he’s spouting. He just likes to see people get up in arms and upset because it amuses him. ”

smart lady – are we really the only 2 people who get it?

  4. I’m staying out of political discussions today, unless sorely provoked. Let me just say, Go Bxgrl, Noki, Slopey, Park Sloper and cmu. You’re doing a great job.

I also have a sneaky suspicion that Lechecal doesn’t believe a word he’s spouting. He just likes to see people get up in arms and upset because it amuses him. However, being Puppet Master, and ya know, you kind of resemble the old Marvel comic book character, really is a form of manipulation and contempt, and isn’t very nice.

  5. >There used to be a list of CEOs who never graduated HS. I think Sandy Weill was one of them. Harder to do today of course

Agreed. Self-made men (always) of business is a long-standing trope. But being a CEO does not require the type of expertise that many high-level professions, particularly in the sciences and medicine etc, do. And that for the most part cannot be self-learned. The exceptions are just that-exceptional- and it cannot be a substitute for rigorous learning and training (in school/college)

You can be a famous and rich artist who never went to school. What does that prove except that it’s a talent that 99% of us don’t have?

  6. okay, enuf of this silly stuff. Something more real like trying to plan a day in NYC for one of my brothers, wife and 2 girls. On Saturday of colombo wkend.
Already bought reservation for Statue of Liberation —problem only 8AM was avail (I assume that mean I need to show up at 8 for the 8:30 boat —tic only lets us into museum base, not up).
Need to go to Empire State also and American Girl store and I would like to take them to Gazillion bubble show also.
Is this all possible in 1 day? Is it crazy to spend all the extra $$$ for express tix for ESB? Anyone been in recent years—-how long does the whole thing take front entering bldg to leaving?
